Lucy In the Sky uses eco-friendly timber jewellery boxes for the storage and presentation of their rings.
Each box is unique and embodies the same care, quality and workmanship that goes into the crafting of each special piece of jewellery.
The timber for these boxes has been harvested under strict management systems to ensure the balance and biodiversity of the surrounding areas is maintained.
These boxes are purchased through GIVE, which is a New Zealand based business.

Jewellery Care Protection
Caring for your jewellery is just as important as the decision you made to purchase it. Each piece of precious jewellery needs to be cared for, depending on what materials it is made from and the type of wear and tear it is going to experience in its life with you.
Especially for pieces that are for long-term wear such as engagement and wedding rings. With all of the extra time spent on you, these items need to be loved and looked after to ensure they last a long time.
Understanding how to care for your jewellery properly is easy and can be done through our main points listed below.
-
For plain wedding bands, pendants, and other jewellery without stones, you can polish your items with a polishing cloth. These are easily purchased online and are not expensive.
If you have jewellery with stones, you can wash these in warm soapy water. For an extra little scrub, you can use a soft nail brush or toothbrush.
If you are looking for a more in depth clean and polish, you can contact us today for more information.
-
Spending a long time in hot water, salty water or chemical infused water can have a bad effect on the stones and metals of your jewellery. It is best to store your jewellery before getting in the water, to keep them in the best condition possible. If you do forget, after getting out, give your jewellery a good clean and/or polish.
-
Yes! Foundations, powders and even the lotions applied before and after make up are bad for your jewellery. These items often build-up in and around stones and allow for other dirt and grime to stick to them. It is best to take them off before applying. If you notice a build-up, give your jewellery a good clean and/or polish.
-
When you are not wearing your jewellery, it is important to make sure it is stored safely. Keep all your pieces apart from each other and not touching other jewellery to avoid scratching. For chains, make sure they are stored individually and with the chains out straight to stop tangling.
Store on a non-abrasive surface such as in a soft fabric jewellery box.
-
It is recommended to take your jewellery off before sleeping. Often rings can get caught on sheets and blankets causing them to stretch out of shape and damage stones. In addition to this, necklaces can get tangled and pulled, and earrings can fall out, get damaged or even lost.
Simple metal bands such as wedding bands are usually okay to keep on overnight.
-
No! Rings and items on your hands will get damaged from holding on gym equipment and from weights. Items like necklaces can get caught and tangled with movements and could have to be cut off.
It is strongly recommended to remove jewellery prior to vigorous exercise, however if you do light exercise, (walking) it may be okay to leave the items on.
You may find a build up from sweat on your jewellery, if so, give your jewellery a good clean and/or polish.

Pearls require special care to ensure their continued longevity after your purchase.
Each pearl is different as it was grown by a living organism, meaning that they each have their own unique look and qualities.
It is recommended that each pearl piece is stored separately from other jewellery, ensuring that no other pieces are touching. This reduces any change of damage or scratching on the pearls.
After use, it is also recommended to wipe down your peal pieces with a light cleaning cloth.
Please ensure you do not use tough or abrasive materials to wipe down your pearls and this will most likely scratch and damage them.
If you accidentally get items or chemicals on your pearl pieces (such as make up and perfume) it is recommended to give your pieces a wipe down as soon as possible to reduce the damage to the items.
